Panasonic DMC-TS10 14.1 Megapixel Waterproof Reviews Roundup
Panasonic today announces the Lumix DMC-TS10 (aka FT10) tough all-action compact digital camera. It features a 14.1 Megapixels sensor and a 4x zoom lens. The Panasonic DMC-TS10 is waterproof to 3m (or 10 feet), shockproof to 1.5m (or 5 feet), freezeproof to -10 degrees C and dustproof. The DMC-TS10 is not quite as rugged as the existing model, such as the DMC-TS2 (aka FT2) can support waterproof to 10m and shockproof to 2 meters.
The camera comes with Panasnoic iA (Intelligent Auto) mode which makes it easy for anyone to take beautiful photos by various shooting-assist functions. There is MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) for hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control for subject movement, Face Detection and Intelligent Scene Selector. With the DMC-FT10, HD (High Definition) movie recording in 720p Motion JPEG is available. The 2.7-inch large Intelligent LCD with AR coating assures high visibility of photo and movies both in shooting and playing back the images.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS10 has a MSRP price of $249.95 and beginning shipping mid-September. It will be offered in red, blue, black and silver colors.
Like its predecessor, the TS2 features a 28mm wide-angle lens with a 4.6x zoom with a scratch-resistant 2.7-inch LCD display, and can record high-definition movies in AVCHD Lite or Motion JPEG formats at a 1,280x720-pixel, high-definition resolution. Unlike the TS1, the TS2 can record not just to SD and SDHC cards but also to super-high-capacity SDXC cards. The TS1 surpassed the Olympus Tough-8000 in terms of image quality, and the TS2 promises to improve it further via the new 'Intelligent Resolution' image-processing technology and a higher 14.1 Megapixel resolution sensor. It also offers optical image stabilisation that's apparently twice as effective as its predecessor's.
Panasonic DMC-TS10 Camera Reviews Roundup
| Steve's Digicam: "The image quality of our outdoor images is very good overall. In most of the images we can see an excellent exposure and very rich colors throughout the photos. In our museum sample, which has a high dynamic range with the dark shadows, the camera exposed them well but greatly overexposed the highlights. All of compacts that we have tested in this manner have struggled with this shot so far. The 5x optical zoom lens..." - Nov 02 2010 More » |

User Review of the camera - Panasonic DMC-TS10
Great all around camera, great pictures and waterproof too!, Paul "gismoman"
I just love this camera. I bought one open-box for under a c-note and just wasn't sure what to expect from it. Wow! This is a really great all around camera. Easy to use, very much point and shoot and the photos uniformly come out very, very good. After one year of owning it, I don't think I've gotten a single out of focus picture from it. It's been in the pool, river, mud, and to the beach. No problems with leaking or fogging up. I've been though many, many digital cameras, and I've grown very fond of Canon cameras for their consistent picture quality. Now, I have another camera that I can feel safe to grab in a hurry if I can't find the Canon because I know I won't miss a photo-op or end up blurry. The video feature works well also, but I wish it had the ability to zoom while filming.
It's OK, Bryan
Good camera. Small and handy. Takes good pictures. Not a professional camera, but I'm not a professional. You should get you one.
Great pictures!, Lynn A. Padgett "LAP"
I have had this camera about 2 years and have used it under water many times. No problems. Excellent pictures in and out of water, good color quality. Great to stick in your purse when you think you might want to take some pics but don't want to take a larger camera. Excellent battery life.
Does Exactly what I was designed for, taking good pictures Everywhere, Guillermo
This Camera Takes Really Good Pictures as a regular Point and Shoot and It Performs really Good Underwater.
We took it on our honey moon (beach location) and I was GREAT, took really sharp Images Everywhere.
Real value compared to Nikon and Canon Underwater cameras for way more than 300 usd....
Love it, Ashley Scarlavia
This camera is perfect for every day use and it's amazing because I can take it on vacation, even in water and pictures turn out great! I've read the basic instructions for care and I've never experianced any problems with water seeping in. I've dropped the camera and it's always been fine! It's perfect and I couldn't ask for anything more suited to my needs. Great deal too!
Perfecto, Wendy Fermin
Entrega en tiempo establecido por el vendedor, producto nuevo y en perfecto estado y correctamente embalado. Compre con toda confianza
Waterproof with great photos!, Susan Jagosz
I bought this camera for a cruise to the Bahamas, where we snorkeled often. The camera was everything I expected, with even better quality photos than I though I would get. If you make sure to follow the cleaning instructions, this camera will maintain it's waterproof integrity for years while taking beautiful photos of all your aquatic adventures. It should be a good camera for snow too, though I haven't tried it yet. The camera is small and easy to use. We attached a small float to wear around our wrist so the camera wouldn't sink to the bottom of the sea. It worked perfectly!
This camera is great for ordinary shots on land, too. The 14 megapixels insures a crisp, detailed photo. I'm very happy with it!
Not waterproof enough, ah
Bought this middle of August 2011. Produced decent pictures, both on land (in dry and wet conditions) and during short underwater trips (tried it kayaking, in a pool, short snorkeling excursion). Never had the fogging issue that others mentioned, but I took it on a longer snorkeling (45+ minutes) trip recently (Dec 2012) and apparently camera couldn't handle it. Completely stopped working and won't come back to life, even after I dried it out for several days. The seals seem kind of crappy, as others have remarked. We have another cheap Kodak Sports, which has also lost most of its water-proof ability, but at least for that one, if it gets overly wet and stops working, one can dry it out and it comes back to life. Not for the Panasonic one. Now I'm looking for a better and more reliable brand.
Panasonic Lumix takes great underwater pictures!, Tall Trees
I was a little skeptical of purchasing this camera for my daughter, but I'm glad I did! She took it to a waterpark this past summer and took it on every ride. She even took some awesome underwater pictures!
Awesome camera, Nelson Gruber
This Panasonic Lumix TS-10 works perefctly in every enironment I have gone to, underwater, a pool, at the beach, mud, the only thing I have not tried it yet is snow, but I'm going to Berlin on the 24th and beleive I'll let you know how it works... The only thing I don't like is taht is a little bulky, but I don't mind that very much becasue I have bbig hands... But it's a little bit bigger than a normal camera...
Great Camera, Mamatusi
Works great underwater and above water. Has a lock to keep water out. Have had it about a year now and still love it!
Quality and features meets easy to use, Tiffany McDonald
This camera has been in extreme environments and has remained unscathed, and the picture quality is magnificent! My department all shares this camera and have brought it into places covered in coal dust and even through a heavy rain storm and it still works beautifully. It was also a nice surprise to see it comes with a clear rubber protective case too. Picture clarity was very important for our uses and it exceeds our needs. Despite the many features of this camera, it is still easy to operate. The menus are self-explanatory and the functions arent complicated. It has every feature we would want from this too so I highly recommend this for anyone really. Great price too for a fantastic camera. Shipping also went well. It arrived on time and in excellent condition. I not only would buy from this vendor again, but I think I am now hooked on Panasonic cameras in general.
ok, wilson
productos cumple con lo requerido, producto recomendado, llego a tiempo tal como decía la fecha de arribo bien envalado. ok
Checked Consumer Reports and ordered this camera., A. H.
This camera will replace the Olympus Stylus 1030SW I now have.
I've had the Olympus for several years and it still works without issue(s); poor image quality is the reason for replacing the Olympus with the Panasonic.

Never mind...
Amazon apparently doesn't allow links to outside sites.
Pity.
Once the Lumix is delivered and I've had a chance to use it, I'll post more.
Not really waterproof nor weatherproof camera, Annie A. Camama "agc"
Picture quality is great but not an ideal outdoor camera, which defeats the purpose of being called as a waterproof.
Sudden change of room temperature creates condensation inside the lens. This condensation, overtime, can mess up the circuits due to rust. If you call the Panasonic support, they will just tell you that it is normal for the condensation to happen. That is a big lie. Return the camera right away and demand a refund since that no waterproof camera should have condensation inside.
I attempted several times to get this replaced but to no avail. They always tell me that they will give you me a refurbished camera rather than a replacement.
If you want a more reliable and a real waterproof camera, get the Olympus brand who started the waterproof and shockproof portable mini cameras. The one we have has been working well no matter what temperature you bring it in. It is now about 4 years old and we never have any kind of problem such as the silly condensation issue with the Panasonic camera.
Least Amount of Shutter Lag, Jeff R. Clow
I've had this camera for almost six months and have used it extensively in the pool. It does a much better job at underwater photography than the competition in this price range....and the shutter lag is much less than the others. That's a big deal when you're shooting underwater. A really BIG deal.
The images it produces are somewhat flat but a bit of post processing work can bring out the color in underwater shots. It does a mediocre job on sport shots and an okay job above the water line as well, but if you're looking for something that does a decent job underwater, you should seriously consider this model. Watch for price drops - the pricing fluctuates a lot on this model.
Panasonic Lumis DMC-TS10 waterproof camera, A Customer
Product arrived on time, well-packaged, intact, good documentation.
Tested it successfully before heading to Hawaii, used it while snorkeling, ziplining, and sightseeing, played with all the settings, very pleased with the results. Now my teenaged granddaughter is getting excellent results with it.

cannot get pictures off of camera, A Customer
I have not been able to get the pictures off this camera. connected the cable to the camera and my pc and I get an error every time. I cannot find the software or box it came with (yes my fault) but who knew the software was not downloadable from panasonic? I'm not a computer dummy either. I called panasonic and they offered for me to purchase the software for $22 and it's back ordered for two weeks! So I have no idea how well the pictures turn out as they are trapped on my camera.
