On February 8 2011, Nikon announced four new stylish compact cameras - Coolpix S6100, S4100, S3100 and S9100. Aim for the sophisticated traveler, the new S9100 packs a 18x wide-angle Zoom- NIKKOR ED glass lens into a stylish compact body, supporting wide-angle (25mm) to super-telephoto (450mm). It comes with a 12.1 Megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor and ISO sensitivity up to 3200, as well as Backlighting scene mode with HDR functionality built-in, Night Landscape mode, Night Portrait mode and Nikon's hybrid VR image stabilization system. The S9100 features a 3-inch high resolution, 921,000 dot LCD monitor, full HD (1080p) movie recording with one-touch operation, optical zoom, stereo sound and the ability to capture still images during recording.
The S8000 features a 14.2 Megapixels sensor with a 10x optical zoom lens at 28mm wide angle. It comes with a 3inch 921,000-dot Clear Color Display LCD on which to frame and review images and movies. The camera supports ISO 3200 and a 4-way VR Image stabilization System. The high-definition movie function with stereo sound offers a resolution of 720p and a frame rate of 30 frames per second. The camera includes a new feature called the Creative Slider, which simplifies adjusting brightness, saturation and color tone in-camera by utilizing the Rotary Multi Selector. Like the S6000, it also support Sport Continuous Mode and Advanced Flash Control. The S8000 has the ability to acquire the subject and lock focus using Subject Tracking.
