Canon today finally announces the 2008-model 50D replacement - the New EOS 60D DSLR Camera. The 60D comes with 18 Megapixels APS-C sized CMOS image sensor, 3-inch Vari-Angle Clear View LCD screen, Full HD Video video recording with manual overrides including audio level control, and in-camera functionality for RAW image processing plus Creative Filters to manipulate images.

The EOS 60D has an expanded standard ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 6,400 equivalents, while retaining the same expanded upper limit of ISO 12,800 from the EOS 50D. Burst shooting speed has falled to 5.3 fps (frames per second), but buffer depth remains basically unchanged at 16 Raw / 58 JPEG images. The 60D borrows many features from 7D. For example, the 7D's movie recording modes have been carried over to the 60D. The 60D can record 1080p HD at 24, 30 and 25 fps. It can also record at reduced resolutions such as 720p and 640x480 with 50 and 60 fps. It has a digital level to correct for pitch similar to the 7D. The 50D also has a 64-level audio gain control as in the 5D Mark II's updated firmware.
