The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma DP1s compact digital camera featuring a 14Mp (2,652 x 1,768 x 3 layers) FOVEON X3 direct image sensor.

The new Sigma DP1s is an improved version of the DP1 which was introduced to market in March 2008. It is now possible to allocate the QS (Quick Set) function, which has been adopted by the DP2 and SD14 DSLR, to the digital zoom buttons of the DP1s. This provides faster and more convenient operation of the camera.

The DP1s is enhanced further by improved performance when shooting backlit subjects, aiding the cameras characteristics of superb resolution and richly graduated tones with a natural, three-dimensional feel.

There are many dedicated accessories available for the DP1s such as the View Finder VF-11, Hood Adapter HA-11 and Electronic Flash EF-140 DG. For more information please visit the Sigma Imaging website.

Features:
  • 14 megapixel Foveon X3 Direct Image Sensor
  • TRUE Image Processing Engine
  • 16.6mm F4 lens
  • Exclusive Sigma Photo Pro Software
  • RAW and JPEG format recording

DP1s Camera Reviews Roundup

TechRadar: "Sigma/Foveon claim rich colour resolution from their sensors, and it's certainly the case that colours came through rich and punchy in our test images (more so than we expected, thanks to the drab-looking rear LCD). Higher ISO performance was pretty good too, certainly comparable with similarly priced CMOS/CCD sensors. ISO only goes up to 800 however, which is a bit restrictive when you are shooting in low ligh..." - Aug 17 2010 More »
ERPhotoReview: "The optical performance of this lens is very good. It is sharp at the corners, but even sharper at the center. CA is well controlled for a lens of this field of view. The largest drawback to it is the minimum focus distance is not very close. The lens peaks at about f/5.6 but is good from f/4-f/8. Diffraction might be noticeable at f/11, but still perfectly reasonable. What I would like to add next is a color s..." - Aug 14 2010 More »

PhotographyBLOG: "With all the excitement surrounding the recent introduction of several small Micro Four Thirds cameras by Panasonic and Olympus, it's hard to raise much enthusiasm for the Sigma DP1s, especially considering that it's to all intents and purposes virtually identical to the original DP1 model. Annoyingly Sigma haven't changed the external design of the DP1s in any way, which means that several usability enhancemen..." - Feb 20 2010 More »
