Nikon Coolpix P100 Camera Reviews Roundup
| TrustedReviews: "Much like the majority of bridge cameras the Nikon P100 has two distinct areas of performance, being at the wide end of the zoom and the narrow. At the wide end optimum light is absorbed, so shots should be well exposed and sharp. In actuality the exposure tends to leave the brighter areas without the expected level of detail, favouring the darker segments far more. At the top end of the zoom the results are qu..." - Jun 18 2010 More » | |
| ImagingResource: "Overall I was quite impressed with still-image quality. Colors were very accurate in bright sunshine as well as indoors. Quality images are to be expected in Las Vegas during daytime, and the Nikon P100 delivered in spades. Blue skies were spot-on to my taste as were the flower sculptures in the Bellagio hotel. The camera was less successful with bright greens and yellows, which were a bit muted. Critically importan..." - Jun 15 2010 More » | |
| DCI: "The Nikon P100 optical image stabilization system intentionally ignores movement in the primary direction the camera is traveling (horizontal or vertical), and only compensates for movement in the other direction. In other words, if you're moving the camera horizontally, it only attempts to compensate for vertical camera shake. We see this type of stabilization offered as an option on some cameras, but here it's the..." - Jun 14 2010 More » | |
| Reghardware: "The best features are undoubtedly the lens and the screen. The P100 fits the bill if you need a long zoom to get things that are far away and a device just about small enough for the missus's bag. Still, unless you're prepared to put up with some grain, you're going to be limited to bright interiors or thin clouds. Otherwise you might be carrying some sort of monopod/tripod, as it's not really swift enough to captur..." - May 28 2010 More » | |
| DigitalCameraResourcePage: "Camera performance was mixed. The Coolpix P100 starts up quickly for a super zoom camera, taking 1.3 seconds. The camera focuses at an average pace in most situations, and focuses accurately (though a bit slowly) in low light. Shutter lag was not an issue, and shot-to-shot delays were fairly brief. As I mentioned, the P100 can shoot continuously at very high speeds. At full resolution, you can take up to 6 photos in..." - May 19 2010 More » | |
| PhotographyBLOG: "The Nikon Coolpix P100 is a feature-packed superzoom camera that is aimed at the enthusiast photographer who either does not want to buy into an SLR system or wants a lighter, more portable alternative to his or her main workhorse. The chief attraction is of course the 26-678mm equivalent zoom lens, which covers the focal range of at least 3-4 SLR lenses. But there is more to the Nikon P100 than just an insanely lon..." - Apr 23 2010 More » | |
| PhotoReview: "Many performance aspects of the Coolpix P100 were typical of most super-zoom digicams. However, autofocusing in bright lighting was surprisingly fast for this type of camera when shooting stills, although it flagged seriously low light levels. Since the camera will still take pictures when the focus is slightly off in such conditions, many of our test shots were slightly unsharp. Metering was generally good, al..." - Apr 22 2010 More » | |
| NeutralDay: "All in all, there were a number of things we enjoyed about using the P100. Minimal shutter lag and 10 fps make the P100 feel pretty responsive, and in most conditions the P100 quickly and accurately picks out focus. There are any number of shooting modes to satisfy most likely user's demands, and we're definitely big fans of P100's feel in the hands. We never really got used to the EVF which works well enough, but s..." - Apr 16 2010 More » | |
| Photoxels: "The Nikon Coolpix P100 is an ultra zoom digital camera capable of capturing good shots with point-and-shoot ease. Its major attraction is its 26x optical zoom: a 26mm ultra wide-angle for large group and wide landscape shots and a 678mm tele to bring far scenes up real close. Sensor-shift image stabilization helps reduce camera shake when using long focal lengths. This camera is packed with features that should..." - Apr 09 2010 More » | |
| Neocamera: "What the P100 adds to distinguish itself from most long zoom cameras is its high-speed sensor that allows it to capture 1080p HD video and high-speed videos as well. The quality of video and audio from this digital camera is exemplary. The only issues to take note of here is that a significant delay when starting to record is troublesome for capturing spontaneous action and the inability to set up initial framing wh..." - Mar 31 2010 More » | |
| DigitalCameraReview: "I was surprised to see Nikon back in the market with another superzoom announced exactly one year after the P90. At least until I realized that Sony has had a compact digital with a BSI sensor on the market since September 2009. Or that Fuji was announcing a new 30x superzoom with BSI the same day as Nikon's BSI-equipped P100. Right now, BSI is perhaps the next big deal in digital imaging technology. The P100 i..." - Mar 30 2010 More » | |
| infoSync: "The Nikon Coolpix P100 has shown an improvement over last year's Coolpix P90, but only ever so slightly. Noise was about the same, though image aberrations such as ghosting and fringing were kept to a minimum. Furthermore, the camera's low light excelled a trifle, especially when we shot at slower shutter speeds. Would we say this boost in image quality is enough to justify tossing out your old P90 and jumping on a..." - Mar 25 2010 More » | |
| Pocket-lint: "In terms of still image quality, the first thing of note is the excellent auto white balance (WB), which works really well even in mixed lighting, some of the best results we've seen from recent compacts and the benefit to your images is clear as better white balance makes them look more natural. Colour is good too with the standard mode providing natural-looking (though there's the customary range of adjustmen..." - Mar 22 2010 More » | |
| ePhotoZine: "It's frankly amazing that the Coolpix P100's lens can do what is does in such a small package, and obviously there have been design compromises to get to this point. All megazoom compacts show less-than-stellar lens optical performance and the P100 is no exception. We saw a fair amount of flare in sunny conditions (there's no lens hood), and chromatic aberration, in the form of purple fringing, is significant at lon..." - Mar 21 2010 More » | |
| CNET: "Megazooms are notoriously slow when it comes to shooting performance, but the P100 is exceptionally fast for the category. From powering on to first shot is 1.8 seconds with an average shot-to-shot time of 1.4 seconds; using the flash doubles that time. Shutter lag is fairly low at 0.4 second in bright light and 0.6 in dim. And again, thanks to the fast CMOS sensor, the P100's continuous burst mode is capable of 11...." - Feb 15 2010 More » |

This is one HOT point and shoot camera!, William Schlake - Sep 03 2010
I tend to read lots of reviews before buying any relatively expensive item. I thought with all the high praise here and rave reviews elsewhere that was a bit over the top. I was wrong. High praise is deserved for this camera, its that good! Can you do better? Sure, if you pay more, lots more. I rarely say it, but this item might not be priced high enough scaring away potential buyers...
LCD didn't work and shipping was late, Mark J. Bradeen - Sep 01 2010
I had a bad experience purchasing my Nikon Coolpix P100. I paid extra $26 for the two day delivery so I would have camera for my kids first day of school. Amazon failed me. They took three days for delivery, so I had to take photos with my blackberry. When I did received the camera today the LCD monitor only displays a bright white screen. The view finder works fine, but when you swit...
Great camera, Sheryl Lucas - Aug 30 2010
We bought this camera for taking pictures of wild life without getting too close( birds, wolves, alligators, bears, buffalos, etc). We are not professional photographers but this camera makes it seem as though we are. The menues are intuitive and the results are striking. It is a large, heavy camera ( though not as large, bulky as a SLR), nevertheless, my husband and I are taking it...
