Olympus TG-320 Camera Reviews Roundup
| Steve's Digicam: "Looking at our indoor images, we see the same image noise, even when using the lowest ISO settings. Once you get to ISO 800, the images are starting to get very soft; and we recommend you keep the ISO below 800 if possible. 1600 is definitely a setting to stay away from unless absolutely necessary. Assisting with your low-light and indoor shooting is a compact flash unit that is not very powerful. You will want to k..." - Jul 23 2012 More » | |
| ePhotoZine: "The Olympus Tough TG-320 produces images which are really well exposed with very pleasing colour reproduction. Detail is good at both ends of the lens, soft in the corners and with some purple fringing in high contrast areas. In super macro mode the camera has a minimum focusing distance of 2cm, allowing decent close-up shots to be taken. Noise is minimal at the two lowest settings of ISO 80 and 100, with noise incr..." - Mar 26 2012 More » | |
| CNET AU: "The TG-320 delivers images that are fine for a camera of this class, particularly for sharing online at reduced resolutions. Photos at 100 per cent magnification look over-processed and slightly crunchy, a trait that we have seen on other tough cameras before. When shooting in automatic mode, colours are slightly muted and not as saturated as they could be. There are, of course, artistic filters to augment the colou..." - Mar 19 2012 More » |

User Review of the camera - Olympus TG-320
Good Waterproof/Shockproof camera, H. Parra
Went to Mexico and used this at the beach, my friends and I were impressed at the quality of pictures from this small short zoom camera.
Waterproof worked well and I got great underwater shots and not a drop got through.
Great buy if you have kids or just don't want to worry about breaking a camera, its 5 foot shock proof and waterproof so if you drop this in mud, sand, saltwater and you can just hose it off.
Not the fastest snapping camera ever, it was great for group photos and landscapes.
Battery life was a bit short and the battery is non replaceable and the power cord seemed propriety so a star off for that.
Overall a good buy
did not leak.., valtan
I took this to my snorkeling tour to Galapagos..... I was able to take pictures inside water or inside the cave area with high water
level. It did not leak and flash worked always well.
This may be a OK camera to take pictures at very wet environment but
not good enough to take reasonably good shots except that. I ended up taking all other pictures by iphone which was much better...but Iphone has limitation and I miss many chances. So, I recommend to take another camera with this if you want to
take other better shots.
Charger & cable not working, Tim Murphy
Bought this camera for my daughter's birthday. The charger or charging cable doesn't work. Luckily, the camphost where we are campiing used his smart phone charger and cable to charge the camera.
I am disappointed with the hassle of either contacting Olypus for a replacement or returning the whole camera to Amazon. I don't know yet if the charger and cable not working is a sign that camera is faulty but it appears so far to be in working order. I just wish there was a simple way to ask Amazon to replace the charger/cable without returning the camera.
I kick myself for not buying the camera at Target because it would have been much easier to return. My daughter who is 7 years was so excited to receive her first camera. Now, we have to wait……...
Excellant, Calvinia Hudson
This item was great and I received it on time as prescribed. I will use your service again. I got the item for a good price and I didn't have to go from store to store looking for it. It was cheaper than the stores
So far so good, John Shifflett
Bought this as a gift for my daughter who can't seem to keep one in working order for to long.
So far she hasn't found a way to destroy this one. The picture quailty is great too.
can i vote zero stars?, M. melde "Ravendancer"
this is the worst camera ever. i needed a quick replacement for my Olympus other-model (I forget which exactly) with the image stabilizer option. This one doesn't have Image Stabilization., which I knew when I bought it, but I had no idea the rest of the camera would be so absolutely useless. it can't in the least adjust to any kind of different lighting conditions (it tends to wash everything out), no matter what setting you put it on. most shots come out blurry - defaulting to a low shutter speed, even if you set it to shoot at a high shutter speed. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on this model, even if it is on sale and it looks like a deal. it's Crap. spend the extra couple hundred dollars on the higher class model of this camera with the Image Stabilizer (sorry, I don't have the model #). that one is indestructible, and i've found most features work brilliantly. Not this one. Real sorry I wasted a dime on this one.
DID NOT WORK, Jenneil Guillen
I ordered this camera in march for a vacation in may. I did not think it would be defective so I did not bother checking it out until right before we left. This camera did not even turn on. I bought an extra battery and had charged them both but with no results. I am very disappointed. I am unable to return the item because they only give you 30days from the date of delivery. I am also unable to contact anyone from customer service because there is no #. I have purchased many items from amazon n this would have been my first return if I was able to return it. I only wanted an exchange but have no choices.
Fantastic camera, Kayak
This point & shoot takes compatible pictures to my Nikon 3100 SLR. The F stop selector where you see the picture at that f stop is genius ! The only thing I can complain about is that after 3hrs the battery was almost dead. Cut it off between shots and that problem is resolved. At this price it's a steal!
Worst product buy ever!, Subodh Lele
I bought this "waterproof" camera from my Hawaii vacation. I used it for snorkeling for two days. On the first day, the fully charged battery last nearly 30 minutes. The next time around, the camera took a few pictures and stopped working after a few minutes. I initially thought that maybe the battery was not fully charged. I later discovered that water had entered the battery/SD card section and ruined the battery. I was snorkeling on both days, so the camera was definitely close to the surface of the water. The strap is pretty lame. I have not yet had a chance to evaluate the quality of the photos..
DO NOT BUY is my strong recommendation..
wouldn't turn on, Lela Louise Wohlford
I decided to give this camera a try. It seemed like a lot of bang for my buck... I got it yesterday, registered the device, and followed the directions to charge and program it. I'm pretty camera savvy, but after reading the reviews for this camera I didn't want to accidentally ruin my camera because I didn't handle it appropriately. I charged the device for a few minutes and tried to turn it on. This surprised me...no power? I couldn't even tell for sure if the camera was charging. Hopeful, I charged it all night. I tried again this morning, and the device still wouldn't turn on. I tried to call Olympus for customer support, but after waiting for 17 minutes to speak to some one... I gave up. I will be returning this...bummer :(
toss it around, D. Chin "Facilities"
the camera is shock proof since it falls out of family member hands all the time. since it has no movable parts (all internal) there is nothing to break. make sure the SD card and battery compartment is double clicked into camera or warranty for waterproof is void.
The best underwater camers, India Sepulveda
My last camera like this lasted 5 years being used by children and under water all the time. Good photos and fun to use. Kids ove to see themselves swimming. This camera was dropped numerous times and still worked. It eventually goes because of the seals but got the price and 5 years of fun it was worth every penny. I got a new one when the old one failed and look forward to another 5 years of underwater fun!!
This is the best camera I've ever had., Casilia
I love this tough little camera! I don't have to worry about dropping it or getting it wet, so now I actually use my camera rather than leaving it safe in a drawer. Boating, hiking, theme parks - it goes everywhere. Furthermore, it takes crystal-clear, vivid pictures despite my shaky hands. I like that I can manually program it, choose a prefab program like "landscape" or "portrait," or use the auto feature.
Good camera, gene coleman
The camera meets all requirments plus some can take pictures in the rain .Our inspectors like them of the fact there is no moving part to worry about.
Simple operation, John Miller
Been using for one month. Works great, simple instructions. Produces good quality pictures. This is good value for the money . No problem in recommending this camera.
Very Durable, Winter High
I use this in a warehouse setting and it has held up the longest of all the cameras we have had.
It's not waterproof!!!, E. Schnautz
Purchased on 2/25/13 and took it on vacation to Hawaii on 3/31/13. It worked fine in the water the first day. Followed the instructions for rinsing and removing sand and salt water. On the third day, water got into the camera despite my having locked and sealed the battery/memory card door.
The only reason I chose this camera was that it is supposed to be waterproof--otherwise it's just a little point and shoot. While it worked, the pictures were OK and the video was good too.
Needless to say I am very disappointed. I could have returned it to Amazon before 3/29/13, but now I have to rely on Olympus to "repair" it under warranty. I'd like to have my money back.
In fairness I will update this review once Olympus has a chance to redeem themselves.
This is the third Olympus digital camera I have owned; the others have been superb (the first was a 2.7MP point and shoot and the other a 5.3MP that I still keep around as a backup to my DSLR).
Olympus TG-320 camera, Pame
My husband had been looking for a camera he could use for underwater shots. He had priced others that go 30 feet down under the water for 300 dollars. When I found this one that goes 10 feet down, for only a hundred... Well, I jumped on it. He will be taking this with him on his fishing adventures and attempt to photograph the fish... I was very happy to be able to present my husband with this for his birthday!!!
Service technician tool, Steven D Fisk
Our company does remote site installations and mechanical service, typically in the bilge of tugboats and supply vessels. Our technicians and engineers require a simple camera that is fairly tough. We've lost one too many cell phones to drops and dunks while attempting to take pictures of an area of concern. This little camera takes the place of having to pull out a cell phone. It takes good pictures, is simple and easy to use.
Great...!, Luis Salazar Bogantes
This is a great camera.. Great definition... No shake pictures even in a car moving... Is a great option... And one of the best purchases...
