According to Business Times in Malaysia, Canon Senior director and general manager for consumer imaging and information division Richard Yeow speaks to reporters after the launch of the Canon EOS 30D in Kuala Lumpur, Yeow said the company wants to hit RM650 million revenue this year for the local market, with digital cameras and related products such as accessories and photo printers set to be major contributors.
“Among the top 10 best-selling digital SLR cameras in the market are four Canon EOS cameras, led by the Canon EOS 350D which accounted for 28.7 per cent of total sales for the market segment last year,” he said.
On the global front, Yeow said Canon managed to sell 1.9 million digital SLR cameras out of the 3.5 million world market last year. “This year, we expect to sell about 2.2 million digital SLRs in the world market,” he said. He said the company plans to launch 77 new products this year in Malaysia with more than 20 of them coming from the camera segment.
