There’re reports from Japan and China that some Konica Minolta retailers are selling the remaining cameras and lens at a big discount, trying to clear up the stock after Knoica Minolta announced leaving the photo business.

According to PEN News Weekly, Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. marketing disclosed that as far as the domestic distribution in Japan is concerned, production of cameras will end at the end of March, when Konica Minolta marketing will also fundamentally stop selling them. April thenceforth the marketing arm may keep on selling whatever camera left while inventory lasts. Trade will be asked to withhold return of camera products except for faulty ones.

Production of film will continue for the time being with inevitable streamlining of film types, reports PEN News Weekly. Customers will be kept posted of the status of film. The same will apply to IJ papers. Production and supply of consumables for Photo Chelate pro printers will continue. Photo Capsule ID photo system business has been taken over by a separate company that will hereafter keep on doing business.

Consultations with Noritsu Koki Co. Ltd. are going on as to the contracted maintenance of Konica Minolta minilabs while Konica Minolta will keep on production and supply of EcoJet chemicals. Konica Minolta will keep on handling photo-related products like albums and frames.
